PERSONALITY.
For good and ill, Nikolai's time in-game has seen him start to learn not everything is going to go his way and it's been a bitter pill to swallow. It's seen him forge some form of bonds, albeit somewhat unwillingly on his part and at a pace that would make a snail think it was the fastest thing on the planet. He still thinks that he can do things on his own, and that he doesn't need support or anyone.
It's also seen him come into contact with the idea of Non-Pokémon worlds -a Very Dumb Idea if you ask him- and come face to face with alternate versions of his own world. Which he'd rather not think about, because Reasons. It's also seen him traumatised and he's dealt with that by Denial and Avoidance (as best he can), pick fights with people he really shouldn't to varying results, learn about things, own a dog that he treated decently simply because he wanted to win. It's seen him, above all, start the process of learning to be a better person towards pokemon/animals. It's not been an easy thing, and a large part of it's due to the job he was first given when he arrived - Part-time Animal Shelter Volunteer, a job he hated, and 'still hates', though he made no move to stop or leave, even if he hated it. The dog he eventually ended up with due to a bet came from the shelter he worked at.
But, Nikolai still, even with his canon update, has a lot of growing pains to go through, and it's going to be an incredibly bumpy ride.

Pokemon
Status
Currently limited to four, as seen in this post.
- Are able to grow up to three levels a month, does not stack.
- Movepools limited to gen one/two; either by level up or TM/HM.
- Levelling up is strictly contingent on him actually working with his castmates to train said pokemon. He can't just walk off into the wilds. If he does that, he'll find all his progress STOPS.
- Cannot evolve any of his pokemon, no matter how much he wants to.
Theme song
Status
Literally only his GSC theme song. It plays when you battle him, encounter him in person, or his pokemon are out. He'll be able to learn to control it, mute it, or amp up the volume to insane noise levels. Generaqlly keeps it muted and on the downlow for Reasons.
Dart manifestation
Status
He can manifest darts no longer than a foot and half long with a simliar barb at one end, all sharp enough to draw blood or pierce someone. They come in three 'flavours':
- wood - Soft or hard, impossible to tell if it's ash or pine or yew etc.
- metal - Silvery-coloured and impossible to tell what kind it is.
- stone - Impossible to tell what kind of stone it is. The hardest to form 'max size'.

EXTRA.
- Archie is his legal guardian as of the first week of July 2019. This was because 'it was convenient for him'. But more like Niko was getting antsy with all the trainers suddenly coming in, plus the ones that had come and gone, that a Rocket or his dad would be brought in sooner or later.
- He has a dog called Mutt; he got her because of a bet made with Blue about training a dog. He almost won, too. She's well trained - and actually trained a lot differently than Nikolai's pokemon were at the time, if only because he wanted to win the bet. He generally keeps her with him at all times, and she sleeps in his room.

Sadly, he can't control them with his mind, so he has to actually practice his aim or be holding onto them to use them. They come with no extra effects and vanish about 24hrs after made.
Headcanon
®» He was not allowed to travel when he was eleven, resulting in him being around fourteen when Pokemon Crystal takes place.
®» He's an only child, and Ariana is not his mother. He either never knew her for whatever reason, or she died when he was very young.
®» He used to have a toy Sneasel carried everywhere with him. It was named Zeze, and was a gift from his dad.
®» The relationship with his father was a bit distant, but loving. Distant as his father was Head of Team Rocket/a businessman and a Gymleader so he was pretty busy. It can also be assumed that Nikolai was probably raised as befitted a Gymleader's child, meaning he knows how to behave during Important Things (events, functions, etc.).
®» Also, there was lots of hero worship.
®» Just because he grew up around Team Rocket doesn't mean he has an pokeworld adult view on them - plus this is pokeworld where an 11 year old can take down pokemafia who's moto is basically exploiting pokemon for profit/useful gain.
®» He probably knows the motto.
®» He's been to at least Five Island/Chrono Island. (Mentioned here (link to come))
®» While he hates hates losing, he will keep a promise made before a battle, though grudgingly if it's one that he really doesn't like. On that note, if information's more important, he'll get that first and then see about getting a battle.
®» He never really tried to distance himself from what he saw as weak/cowardly. If he really had wanted to, he would have tried to be as nice to his pokemon as possible from the start and would not have carried on the way he does. The fact that he didn't, IMO, suggests an attachment to his past, regardless of how he feels about his father on a whole.
®» He probably grew up being groomed for a life of crime. Then Red Happened. Opps.
®» As abusive as he is, he does feed them and they have limited care at pokecentres.
