Technically, he would have ranted a bit more, but Archie's words sink in, and for a second, Nikolai wants to protest being grounded. To protest the punishment because his team knows what he expects and he didn't damage any of the bonds.
They need to work harder, to train, not deal with touchy-feely bullshit.
But he doesn't. And it's purely because he knows Archie can do this. That Nikolai is keenly aware he has called Archie 'oyaji' with all that implies. That he asked the man to be his legal guardian. That, legally speaking and as far as Nikolai knows, Archie is all that's standing between him and Archer getting custody and that's the last thing he wants.
Grounding, in his mind, is a humiliation he has to bear. One he should just shut up and accept, because for all he logically knows Archie isn't his father-
